Best Gaming Laptops of 2025: Power on the Go
From ultra-thin powerhouses to desktop-replacement behemoths, we've tested the most capable gaming laptops of 2025 to find the best for every budget.

Gaming laptops used to be a compromise. You got desktop-class performance stuffed into a chassis that weighed as much as a small dog, lasted 90 minutes on battery, and sounded like a jet engine at idle. In 2025, that compromise looks a lot different.
Best Overall: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16
The ROG Zephyrus G16 is what happens when a gaming laptop manufacturer finally accepts that design matters. It's genuinely good-looking — I used it at a coffee shop and someone asked me if it was a new MacBook. The RTX 5070 Ti handles 1440p ultra settings without breaking a sweat, and the 2560×1600 OLED panel makes every game look like a painting. The catch is noise — under heavy load, the fans are audible. Not offensive, but present.
Best Budget Under $1,200: Lenovo Legion 5i
The Legion 5i remains my recommendation for anyone who wants serious gaming performance without a serious credit card impact. RTX 4060 performance, a 144Hz IPS display, and a keyboard that I actually enjoy typing on — rare for any laptop at this price, rarer still for a gaming one. I've tested five generations of the Legion 5 series and it keeps getting better.
