Best Overall: Apple AirPods Pro 3

For iPhone users, this is the easy answer. The H3 chip's ANC is extraordinary — second only to the Sony XM6 in my testing — and the Transparency mode is so good it's become the standard against which I measure every other earbud. The hearing health features are a genuine differentiator: if you've ever worried about noise exposure at concerts or while mowing the lawn, the AirPods Pro 3 gives you actual data and real-time protection. They stay in my ears during runs in a way the previous generation never quite managed.

Best for Android: Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

For Android users, particularly Samsung phone owners, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offer the tightest ecosystem integration. The blade antenna design is a real improvement for connection stability — I used to get occasional dropouts with the Buds 2 Pro during subway commutes, and the Buds 3 Pro have been solid. Sound quality is excellent, slightly brighter than the Sony sound signature. ANC is very good, though not quite at AirPods Pro or Sony XM6 level.

Best Budget Under $100: Nothing Ear (a)

Nothing's cheaper Ear (a) model at $99 is remarkable. The sound quality genuinely surprised me — warm, detailed, with a bass presence that most budget earbuds can't touch. ANC is basic but functional. The transparent design still turns heads. If you just need something that sounds great without spending flagship money, this is the current winner.
